Turkey Day!

Or should we call it tortellini day? As you can see, Luca couldn't get enough of the homemade tortellini soup we traditionally have on Thanksgiving. Thanks to his mom, aunts and a few cousins, those tortellinis were the definition of perfection.
The actual Thanksgiving meal was not as big of a hit, but that's ok. Who needs dinner when there is an olive on your finger and pumpkin pie waiting for you?

A Guy's Guy (or man's best friend?)

Not only does he drink his sippy cup from a cuzy, he is also going to be a hit at fraternity parties...I just have this feeling...

Happy Halloween!

What happens when a 20 month old gets a hold of an unguarded camera! I think there's talent there!
Luca thinks that trick-or-treating is like a drive thru...except can someone help this giraffe out with his tail stuck in the door?

Have you ever seen a cuter (or shorter) giraffe? And I think his cute little voice saying "trick-or-treat" got him extra candy!
The problem with trick-or-treating with a 20 month old is that they don't understand the concept of "waiting". Every piece of candy that was put in Luca's bucket he wanted to eat. IMEDIATELY! So pretty much between each house he had a different piece of candy. After this lollipop, we called it quits...it was probably only 6 houses into the night...but a giraffe's tummy can only handle so much!
By the end of the evening, this was one happy giraffe (and one that started walking everywhere backwards with tail in one hand and lolli in another). I think Luca wishes every day to be Halloween!

Halloween Eve

Well, these pictures didn't post in the order I asked them to, but you get the jist! Those are 2 mighty fine jack-o-lanterns if you ask me (or Luca!)
Luca was totally into the scooping, and surprisingly he didn't mind the slime. He did only take out one seed at a time, though!
This boy is ready for Halloween!
Digging in!
I think his exact words were "cool".

Cozy Up!

Now that the weather has gotten chilly, nothing we'd rather be doing than get snuggly under a blanket with a snack!
Seems Luca is enjoying my snack more than his own too...(It also seems he needs a haircut VERY soon!)

Pumpkin Time!

You would think that it was the middle of summer, but no...try the middle of October! But a perfect day to hit Cosley Farm to visit the animals and to pick out our pumpkins.
"I think this one is perfect. mama!"

Luca really did want to take them all home with him!

Mr. Independent wanted to do it all on his own. Luckily we brought home 3 perfect pumpkins...Luca did a pretty good job of picking out the ones that were "just right"!

OOOOMPAH!!!

Can you think of a more perfect way to ring in fall than Octoberfest? Luca had a blast with Ellie and Will (and the parents had a fair share of their own fun!)
Dancing along to the Ooompah band.
Just to clarify, that is a sippy cup of apple juice for Luca. But Luca and Ellie did find the lemons in the Hacker Pschorr mighty tasty!
Taking in the sights and sounds of his first Octoberfest (Luca's that is. Definately not Mike's!)

30 seconds of bliss!

Today is the day of my first ride on a train!
I still don't see it, is it too far away?

There's the choo-choo, it's much closer I see.

Daddy, are you sure it's going to stop for me? Daddy tells me to sit, that I can't run,

That's okay because I'm having so much fun!

Although the ride was quick, probably only 1 mile

it thrilled this boy and made him smile!

1st Step in Recovery~Admitting the Problem

Hi, My name is Jenn, and my son is a paci addict.
We literally can't have enough of them (in our house, car or mouth), and the white ones are paci of choice. The addiction has gotten stronger over time, yet quitting the paci is a battle I am not yet willing to face, so on it goes!

Good Eats!

Hmmmm...I'm not quite sure if Luca likes Nonnie's spaghetti...but I've never met a man who doesn't, so I'm guessing it's affirmative!

Adventures in Parenting

Due to recent events (a.k.a. falling out of his crib while climbing out) our boy is now in a big boy bed....Does that mean he's not a baby anymore? I'm not sure I'm ready for that! He seems to like it...
Especially because he can crawl out of it!
Uh-oh. I think this has trouble written all over it!
I can't believe this time has come!

Go Bananas!

We all know that the food preference of monkeys are bananas, so go figure that this is my son's food choice as well...yet another similarity between him and the primates!

Shiner

" What's wrong with Luca's eye," you say?
Well, that's what you get for crawling out of your crib one too many times.
And no, nothing happened to his teeth. They are naturally that spaced!

It's his first shiner, but I am sure that it won't be his last (have you met my little monkey?).
At least it hasn't dampened his spirits!

Apples to Apples 101

It must have been the fresh air that made Luca's love for Ellie so irresistable in the wagon. Let's hope an innocent hug was all it was. Where were their parents?
"Now kids, I wanted to wait a few years before we had this talk..."
Back on dad's shoulders.
(Can't you just see the apple juice puddling in Mike's hair?)

An Apple A Day...

Well, it'll be "apples for DAYS"! after our jaunt to Apple Holler Orchard in Wisconsin last weekend! Us, along with the Knudsen's, met up with some friends on a gorgeous day. Who would've thought that such a "fall" activity would happen on such a "summer" of a day?
Luca turned into Master Apple Picker, and spent most of the day on top of Daddy's shoulders...
The look of determination to find THE perfect apple.
You would be hard pressed to find a picture of Luca from the day without an apple in his mouth! But I would have to agree, there's just nothing like eating a fresh picked apple right from the tree!
The wagon was a good idea (gave Mike's hair a break from the apple juice running off Luca's chin and down his arms), but it definately could've used some off roading wheels!

Houdini DiCosola

It's 7:00am. Where is Luca?
Reading books, of course. But he should be in his crib.
Welcome to his latest trick.
We are on our way to a big boy bed!

You've Heard of "Jack-In-A-Box"...

No, he isn't homeless now and living in a box...
Just enjoying a snack-in-a-box!
