(in luca's words...) Happy Do You!

Hey Kent...Great party man!
Thanks dude...I've always wanted a pool party for my 1st birthday, and I think this is a pretty fun one too!
Mmmmm, this cake is delicious!
Isn't my mom the coolest, Luca? I mean, pool party, cookies, it just doesn't get any better...

Or does it?
Thanks Kent for inviting us to your Happy Day!

We can't believe you're 1 already!

Tag! You're It!

Summers are so much fun! It's sad that it's almost over!

Where's Luca?

Who needs toys when you have daddy's closet?

Annie and Toe, Sittin in a Tree...

Let the Real Party Begin!

What a fun and beautiful night it was! At last...
Nonno was a dancing machine! It is kind of my fault too, for pulling him on the dance floor for the first dance. He didn't leave once until the lights came on!
Annie and Antonio were dancing machines themselves!
The girls. When can we start calling ourselves (ALL 3 of us) the moms? :)
Sisters (in-law)! Finally!
Those eyes are the sign of a good night...and a good night it was!

Party Animal!

And before this prince's coach turned back into a pumpkin, we managed a few more family photos.
Luca wasn't quite ready to end this party...
One more piggy back ride before Luca's chauffeur arrived (AKA Aunt Debbie).

Enough With the Paparazzi!

At this point Luca was done with the pictures, done holding still and done with the tux, but we still managed a decent family photo!
No, we didn't stop for pony rides, just a giant Great Dane happened to be walking through the park, and offered Luca a ride!
"Hello? Can anyone see me down here? I thought I was supposed to be in the picture too!"
Luca...just playing hard to get with the ladies. We all know who he is saving his heart for!

The Wheels on the (Party) Bus...

He may not be old enough to ride a school bus, but definately the party bus!
Dad's giving a few pointers on how to best enjoy the pre-party.
Are you sure there's just water in there? Look's like the ring bearer has had a few too many somethin's...

Wedding Day Jitters

Not for the beautiful bride...She was as calm as can be (10 years will make you pretty certain about committing to marriage).
and the groom managed to stay on his feet as well (one-upping his big brother).

But the ring bearer crumbled under pressure (guess he gets that from his father :) ). While he didn't make it down the aisle, he did make it up on the way out, waving at fans as he made his solo appearance.
He even held it together for a few pictures. Notice him all the way on the left (getting a little fresh with his mama!)

Goof!

It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Especially with neighbors like the Knudsen's (that's Ellie Knudsen, her brother Will, and their parents Andrea and Andy). Did I tell you that Luca enjoys Will almost as much as Ellie? I think because they share so many of the same interests~bubbles for one...
sandbox and trucks for another.
Nice ride. Wanna race?
And they're off!
Thanks Knudsens for such a fun evening!

Sunday Funday

This past Sunday was the perfect day for our family to go to the Morton Arboretum.
Luca loved looking at all of the beautiful plants and flowers,
but loved the water features even more! It was about all we could do to keep him from going swimming!

"Hey mom, what are you doing up there in that tree?"

Where's The Fire?

No fire, but a gas leak down the street. Luca and I stepped into the front yard to see the fire truck go by and wave...And then they stopped ~ "Would he like to sit in the truck?" the fireman said...
Would he?!!!!!?!!!!!!!
Luca was thrilled (and so was mom...what an experience! and I just happened to have my camera outside!)
Luca turned the steering wheel, pressed some buttons (their wipers, flashers and radio probably went on when the firemen got back in), and made siren noises the whole time. He was in awe.
Don't you love his little head poking through that enormous window?

I even got into the action! The firemen were kind enough to take my picture with Luca before running off to their next act of heroism...but not before asking us "would you like lights and sirens before we drive away?" Luca thought that was even more wonderful, and has had a permanent smile on his face all night!

Thanks again to the friendly and kind Downers Grove FD for taking the time out to make this little boy's day such a special one!

A Little Water Won't Hurt!

Especially on a sweltering day like today. Luca figured out how to turn on the hose and squirt it. I figured it "what a better way to cool down?!"
Luca got himself and the patio pretty good, and then...
"What?"
Maybe it wasn't such a good idea after all.

Our New Puppy!!!

Well, he at least thinks he is a puppy. For days he has been walking around the house panting and mimicing Gus' every move.
Tonight he takes it upon himself to lick the spilt water off of the coffee table...
like any good dog would do!
